The course delves into the evolutionary logic of Beidahuang’s development from traditional reclamation to modernization and intelligent operations, revealing the underlying mechanisms behind its achievement of producing 14% of China’s commercial grain using only 2.7% of the nation’s arable land.The course focuses on three core aspects:
First, it analyzes the foundation and pathways for Beidahuang to build a modern agricultural system characterized by large-scaled, standardized, digital, green, and full-chain operations across its 5 million hectares of farmland;Second, it demonstrates the full-chain smart agriculture technology system—including Space-Air-Ground Integration Monitoring, Digital Platform, and On-site Intelligent Execution—to explain how leveraging big data, artificial intelligence, IoT, and other modern technologies achieves quantifiable goals such as 5%-10% per-mu yield increases and 15%-20% operational efficiency gains. Third, it summarizes the reproducible development model of Chinese-style modern agriculture exemplified by Beidahuang, along with its major experiences in green and sustainable development.The course uses a teaching model that combines theoretical instruction with practical learning, totaling 1.5–2.0 credits (equivalent to 24–32 class hours). Teaching mode encompasses classroom lectures, field trips, and group discussions.
Through systematic study, international students will acquire an in-depth understanding of the development trajectory, key technologies, and operational models of modern agriculture in the Beidahuang region. They will develop the ability to apply Beidahuang’s experience to analyze and resolve regional agricultural development challenges.
Meanwhile, it will also broaden their international agricultural perspective and provide theoretical and practical support for advancing efficient, safe, and sustainable agricultural development in their home countries. This course is primarily designed for international students and researchers in China pursuing studies in Agricultural Resources and Environment, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, and related disciplines.
