Designed for learners who want to gain confidence querying databases and prompting AI, the course starts with the foundational SELECT and FROM statements. It gradually builds to more complex operations such as counting and identifying unique values.

You'll learn how to write effective prompts that instruct AI assistants to generate accurate SQL queries, and you'll develop the skills to interpret and refine those results while understanding the limitations around using AI for SQL. You'll strengthen your understanding of SQL syntax through practical exercises and learn when and how to intervene in the AI-assisted coding process.

Build Practical Skills for Data Exploration Across three structured chapters, you'll develop a well-rounded understanding of SQL and prompting. First, you'll explore how databases are structured and practice writing your initial prompts to retrieve data using AI.

Next, you'll dive deeper into query construction by identifying data types, naming fields, using aliases, and applying result limits. You'll also gain insight into how SQL syntax can vary across systems.

Learn the fundamentals of SQL using AI. Starting with data retrieval, you'll explore database and query structures. By chapter's end, you'll confidently write your first prompts to generate SQL queries to answer questions about real-world data.
• Querying Data with AI
Learn to control and improve your SQL query outputs. You'll identify different data types, explore naming conventions, create clear field labels with aliases, understand SQL variations across databases, and limit results. These skills will help you write better prompts and create more readable query results.
• AI Limitations and Counting Data
Build on your SQL knowledge to explore and analyze data. You'll learn when AI can and cannot help with database questions, use COUNT and DISTINCT to understand your data, and combine multiple techniques to answer business questions.
