Evaluate your IoT Scenario by using Azure IoT Central

Overview

• Module 1: Evaluate whether Azure IoT Central is appropriate to quickly assess your IoT scenario.

  After you complete this module, you'll be able to:

  • Evaluate whether Azure IoT Central is appropriate to quickly assess your IoT scenario and the opportunities it can create for your business.
  • Describe how Azure IoT Central works to quickly connect devices, monitor device conditions, create rules, manage devices and their data throughout their life cycle, and extend IoT intelligence into line-of-business applications.
• Module 2: Create an Azure IoT Central application to monitor telemetry, observe the state, send commands and configure rules for maintenance notifications.

  After you complete this module, you'll be able to:

  • Create an Azure IoT Central custom application
  • Connect a coffee machine simulator to your application
  • Monitor telemetry and send commands to the simulator
  • Configure rules for maintenance notifications
• Module 3: Examine the features and component sections of the device template, a blueprint that defines the characteristics and behaviors of a type of device.

  After you complete this module, you'll be able to:

  • Describe the features and components of a device template.
  • Describe the component sections of a device template.
  • Describe how to version a device template.
• Module 4: Explore device management capabilities provided by Azure IoT Central and how to perform device management at scale with device groups and jobs.

  After you complete this module, you'll be able to:

  • Describe the Azure IoT Central UI tools for device management.
  • Describe device management with device groups.
  • Describe device management at scale using jobs.
• Module 5: Prepare your IoT Central application to connect an IoT Edge device and use Azure Functions to filter data before sending it to the cloud.

  After you complete this module, you'll be able to:

  • Create an IoT Central application
  • Import an IoT Edge deployment manifest into IoT Central
  • Add an IoT Edge device template to your application
  • Add dashboards to the device template
  • Publish the device template
  • Add an IoT Edge device to your IoT Central application
  • Deploy an IoT Edge enabled Linux VM
  • Manage the IoT Edge device from IoT Central
  • Deploy an Azure function to the IoT Edge device
• Module 6: Examine features that support solution management, administration, business integration, and data analytics capabilities built into Azure IoT Central.

  After you complete this module, you'll be able to:

  • Describe the configuration of Rules in Azure IoT Central.
  • Describe how to configure a rule with condition-based actions.
  • Describe the Azure IoT Central Dashboard page for administrators.
  • Describe the Azure IoT Central data analytics UI.
