In this project, you will learn in detail the steps required to create a PowerBI report using PowerBI Desktop, and how to publish this report on PowerBI service within the respective workspace. This project is designed for beginners who have no prior experience with PowerBI, allowing them to quickly understand how to create a report in PowerBI.
Pre-requisites:
- PowerBI Account
Here is a brief description of the tasks you will perform in this project:
Task 1: Get Data
First, you will get an overview of PowerBI Desktop and then use it to connect to the source data using the Get Data option. By the end of this task, you will have imported all the source data into PowerBI Desktop.
Task 2: Create Relationship & Calculated Columns
Next, you will create relationships between different source tables imported into PowerBI. During this process, you will also learn how to create a calculated column using DAX query language.
Task 3: Customize Field Level Properties
In this task, you will explore and customize different field level properties such as datatype, summarization, and visibility.
Task 4: Create Visualizations in Report
Here, you will learn how to create various visualizations in the report and add filters or slicers. You will explore visualizations such as line charts, pie charts, and tables.
Task 5: Publish Report to PowerBI Service
In the final task, you will learn how to publish the report from PowerBI Desktop, which is the local application installed on your desktop, to the PowerBI service.
