ABOUT THE COURSE:
Behind every digital platform you interact with today— lies a business model that is far more than just code. It is a system shaped by human decisions, data patterns, and the social context it operates in.
Welcome to Innovative Digital Business Model Design! This joint initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and German Development Cooperation (GIZ) is implemented in partnership with Banaras Hindu University under the Digital Skills to Succeed project.
We have created this for university students and researchers who are ready to identify opportunities to improve and innovate digital business models. It will help you move from a vague, unstructured idea to a resilient, impactful business that actually works in real-world conditions.
The course contains 4 modules:
In Module 1, we explore what a business model is and begin using Lean Canvas to structure and test your business ideas. In module 2, you will sharpen the business idea by learning how to:
Design lean Canvas; Choose the right customer segment; Identify root problems beyond just surface symptoms; Create strong value propositions; Design solutions and revenue models.
Because digital businesses generate data, you’ll also explore how data and AI can support smarter decision-making in business model design. In Module 3, the focus shifts to auditing to identify and fix problems.
You'll use key performance indicators and innovation tactics to identify opportunities and manage risks such as bias or opacity in your model. Finally, Module 4 takes you from business model design to real-world implementation.
You will learn to turn a business model into an actionable plan by understanding key success factors, including team management, financing, change management, and agile execution. By the end of this course, you will understand how digital business models work and how to design and evaluate them using practical tools such as the Lean Canvas.
You will also learn to drive innovation and plan successful implementation by aligning customer needs, business value, resources, financing, and change management strategies. Whether you are building a startup, launching a digital product, or exploring the next big idea, this course will help you turn concepts into practical, scalable, and responsible business models.INTENDED AUDIENCE:
