Resumen

Enhance your data management skills by diving into structured database environments with our comprehensive course offered through edX. Gain proficiency in utilizing a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) like MySQL to establish a well-structured database that supports data management, manipulation, and analysis.

This course delves into understanding different types of data and database systems, designing scalable databases, and implementing the relational model for digital data storage. You'll learn to navigate integrity constraints, assign primary and foreign keys correctly, and craft effective SQL queries to meet specific data requirements.

Upon completion, participants will have demonstrated capabilities in:

  • Understanding the relational model
  • Enhancing SQL skills
  • Creating precise SQL queries
  • Developing and interpreting database schemas
  • Applying normalization techniques to datasets or databases
  • Managing data within schemas and mastering SQL joins
  • Debugging SQL code confidently

This course is a must-have for individuals aiming to advance in fields such as data analytics, data engineering, database design, or business intelligence.

SQL's robust capacity for data extraction, transaction, and loading is pivotal for thorough analysis utilizing relational databases.

As part of the Data Management with Python and SQL MicroBachelors program, this course is the second in a series. While beginners are encouraged to take the courses in sequence for optimum learning experience, those with prior knowledge in these areas might opt to take selected courses.

The sequence begins with "Scripting with Python", followed by "Structured Database Environments with SQL", both commencing in February 2021.

NOTE:

Completion of this course may qualify for 3 credits (1 course) towards a bachelor's degree at Southern New Hampshire University, despite its general non-credit status.
