Aperçu
As part of the high school reform, teaching the fundamentals of computer science is becoming increasingly important. Starting from the general and technological Seconde class, a new course, Digital Sciences and Technology, is offered to everyone.
How can we assist SNT teachers? What knowledge should be shared with them? What resources should be selected? What skills should be passed on to enable them to teach this new course?
This MOOC will be a somewhat special training tool: a space for sharing and mutual support, where each participant can construct their own path according to their needs and knowledge. An online course that evolves over time; start whenever you want and return as often as necessary.
This course aims to provide prerequisites and initial resources to start these SNT activities with high school students in connection with the 7 themes of the program. In-depth focuses on certain subjects that can be further explored and ready-made activities will be offered. This MOOC complements the necessary training for this teaching provided by the national education system.
S for Science: Knowing computer science and its fundamentals. We start from the (true for a few years) assumption that almost everyone knows the uses of computer science, but what do we know about coding information, algorithmics and programming, digital systems (networks, databases)? You think you know nothing or everything about it? Come check for yourself and see how accessible it is!
N for Digital: Digital as culture, impacts in the real world. Bits of scientific culture to discover digital and its sciences in the real world, covering the seven themes of the program. Relate to the daily lives of the youth, show them where the digital systems, data, and algorithms around us are and what they exactly are. Understand the societal changes and impacts that result, identifying both opportunities and risks (e.g., crowdsourcing, new social contacts, etc.) they face.
T for Technology: Handling digital creation tools. Equip yourself to support students in developing targeted skills through the creation of digital objects (interactive websites, connected objects or robots, smartphone applications, etc.), using software and an introduction to programming in Python.
And if I have taken the ICN MOOC?
Please note: the S part of this SNT MOOC covers the I (Computer Science and fundamentals) chapter of the ICN MOOC (so you just need to pass the quizzes, without necessarily watching the videos and reading the documents again); content from the N chapter of the ICN MOOC is used as cultural elements in the N part of the SNT MOOC, which is nonetheless new and adapted to the new programs, as is the T part of the SNT MOOC.
