This course provides a detailed overview of technologies used in automatic processing of both written and spoken language, with a special focus on human-machine dialogue technologies.
Participants will gain fundamental insights into general linguistics, specifically acoustic phonetics, digital processing of speech signals, and handling of textual and spoken data derived from speech corpora.
The course places an emphasis on voice technologies, including speech synthesis and recognition, alongside pertinent Machine Learning techniques such as Hidden Markov Models and structural language models (Grammars, N-grams, etc.).
The program wraps up with an in-depth discussion on human-machine dialogue models, introducing key systematic architectures for dialogue management, Voice-XML language, and tools and applications for dialogue systems. The final lecture explores current and future applications in the field.
