00 AM. This session, led by the renowned Dr.
Boris D. Lushniak, explores the crucial interlink between public health theory and practice with a focus on dermatology's significant role.
Dr. Lushniak draws from his extensive experience, highlighting the importance of surveillance, response, and policy in mitigating health risks, and emphasizing the role of dermatologists in early detection and management of potential bioterrorist threats such as anthrax and smallpox.
Dr.
Lushniak's illustrious career spans roles such as Dean and Professor at the University of Maryland School of Public Health and Rear Admiral (retired) of the US Public Health Service. His comprehensive background in family medicine and dermatology, combined with his leadership during critical health scenarios like the Ebola outbreak in Liberia, positions him as a pivotal voice in the intersection of public health and dermatology.
Participants of this enriching session will gain insights into the public health environment, core public health functions related to emerging threats, and the identification of primary public health biothreats with dermatological implications.
